The Cape Town edition of Felabration will be hosted at the Drawing Room Café in Observatory on Saturday the 20th of October. Celebrating the life and times of one of, if not the biggest influencers of African music, this free event will feature CHIMURENGA Magazine Editor & DJ Ntone Edjabe, Supported by 90s Kwaito enthusiast Scello, Ra Mava & more.

Born Olufela Olesegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, Fela was a Nigerean born multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer. A pan-Africanist and known polygamist, Fela’s was no stranger to controversy with his music touching on all subjects from religion to politics. One of the biggest criticism that Fela had of the then Nigerian government was its’ ill treatment of it’s own people. Fela blamed the socio-economic issues on the remnants of colonialism.
